After much "hustling" to get ready we exit the hotel at 10:30 AM...
only to find the Louvre line longer than yesterday. Even
better, it's raining and cold as hell, so we decide
to try and find something else - fast. But the lines are just
as looney everywhere, so we throw in the (sopping-wet) towel.
I don't know why a couple laggers who love sleeping in and lounging
around in bed think we can wake up early, but c'est la vie.
On the plus side, we found this newsstand on the side of the road
where this old guy was selling original ads from 50's and 60's
magazines. Not the fake "retro" crap, but the real deal. So we got
some, and apparently if you bought a 1960's Yamaha motorcycle, it was
the key to "The Swingin' Lifestyle" (I knew we were born in the
wrong time period).
Eventually we stumble on one thing that's always open - the Arch De
Triomphe on the Champs D'Elysees. We snap a pic, then cruise along the Champs to
do some overpriced shopping... only to wind up buying a couple $20 shirts
in Zara, their equivalent of the Gap.
We need a drink, so after some Indian food, we head to Bar Marchet ("cheap
bar"), where we meet these cool German guys (led by Nils), who can actually
pronounce "Nathan" (the "th" kills non-English-speakers).
I'm an instant fan, so we all head over up to Les Bains, a dance club
playing some of the worst 70's disco music ever (the trend continues).
Through a freak linguistic mixup (I knew I should've studied French harder)
I ended up ordering us 2 Corona's. But it's cool. C'est la vie.
